Some of the venues we are considering say they provide a wedding coordinator.  Why would I need another coordinator?

Answer:

A site coordinator is quite different from a private wedding planner.  A private wedding planner is working for you from the time you hire them until the completion of the wedding.  They are hired by the bride and groom so their allegiance is with the bride and groom.  A site coordinator is very important and valuable, but they are working for the site, paid by the site and making sure that everything at the venue runs well.  For the most part they are concerned with the setup of the venue and the meal service.  As you begin planning you will see that the venue is just one small part of the overall wedding.  Here are a few thing that would set a private planner apart…you may want to see if the venue coordinator does any of them.

  • Assists in finding the venue and all vendors, making sure that they are the perfect fit for your wedding and then negotiates pricing and assisting with contracting the vendors
  • Wedding designer: assisting with colors, theme and making your wedding unique and exactly what you envision
  • Tracking of budget and payments
  • Creates an itinerary and “to do”  timeline so that you don’t forget any detail and things are done in a timely manner
  • Advices on wedding etiquette
  • Correspondence and appointment scheduling with vendors
  • Attendance at vendor meetings and advice so you get the best wedding possible
  • Assistance with invitations, wording and all printed material
  • Advise & suggestions for rehearsal dinner locations
  • Orchestrate Wedding Day
  • Organizes all Wedding Day logistics and setup
  • Confirmation with venders prior to wedding
  • Attend/conduct rehearsal
  • Contact person & leader of vendor team
  • Supervision of set-up and removal
  • Instruct ushers of duties
  • Assist bride & maids with dressing
  • Organize processional line-up
  • Send bride down the aisle worry free
  • Assist with transition to reception
  • Act as liaison between catering staff, M.C., photographer, and videographer
  • Keep reception running smoothly
  • Deliver final payment to vendors
  • Supervision of entire reception
  • Other duties specific to each wedding and bride

Each wedding is unique and the food should be too.  Here are a few shots from a recent wedding at Next Door to the B&L.  We had food stations located around the room.  This was a cocktail style reception with partial seating, so guests were encouraged to mingle and move around.  The party was a huge success and the food…amazing.  Thanks for the wonderful photos Sam from Sharpe Photographers.

My son is now a teenager and decided he wanted to redecorate his room.  I hope he likes the graffiti wall I had done for him while he’s away at Scout Camp this week.  Thank you Bobbin from Mulvaneys for the fabulous referral of AYCIRock from Sledgehammer Graphics…I think this is going to be a new idea for engagement shoots for those that like that “urban chic” vibe…not just graffiti, but personalized graffiti.  I can see the Save the Date already in progress!  Happy Wedding Planning!

Does Grandma make the best Molasses Cookies you’ve ever tasted?  Treat your guests to a favor that has special meaning to you and your family.  Have family members make some of their favorite cookie recipes and package them for guests to take as they leave the reception.  This is a wonderful personal touch…very inexpensive and helps include other family members that would like to help out with the wedding.  You can even share the family recipe on the the hang tag…if you are willing to release it!  Happy Wedding Planning!
