“We really want our placecards to be inserted into corks”, said a past bride… I made several suggestions that would work: Let’s cut the corks so there is a flat side and then put them on the table on their side or let’s put the corks in trays of rice or grass, something to hold them in place for an outdoor wedding. The bride didn’t like any of my suggestions. She wanted them standing upright on the table and she wanted the table “clean” looking. So we had to get creative! We cut ribbon and inserted classic thumbtacks 2″ apart along the length of the ribbon. We then heavily taped the ribbon to the bare banquet table. Next, we added the linen and pushed the pins through, so we ended up with a tabletop full of upright pins. We then put a cork on each pin and inserted the card. Voila…they wobbled and wiggled, but never fell over, even outdoor with a breeze. It’s all about making it happen so the bride has the wedding of her dreams! Happy wedding planning!
